This large map, by W. Faden in 1790, is one of the greatest historic maps of London. Unusual for maps of its time, this one also includes all of the suburbs of London up to 25 miles around.
Over 200 years ago London looked very different indeed. In fact, London is hardly there at all! There's the City of Westminster and the City of London... and a bunch of villages dotted around them. The next 100 years would see London (and the British Empire) dramatically expand.
There's an incredible amount of detail in this map - and at 18x24 inches, you'll be able to read all of the smallest village names!
