Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
This is a rare, ancient map of London that was created by Joannes de Ram of Amsterdam in 1690. This map is available in a few different sizes, starting at 16x20 inches (40x50cm). I can print and frame it at sizes up to 40x50 inches (100x125cm) - and it looks truly amazing at large sizes, let me tell you!
Back in the 1600s maps often had Latin names. This one was originally published as Londini Angliæ regni metropolis novissima & accuratissima - roughly translated as the 'new and accurate map of London, capital of the realm'.
As you can see, back in 1690 London was mostly just the City of London and Holborn. Westminster and Southwark were starting to develop, but everything else is just fields and marshes (hello Lambeth!)
The Inns (Lincoln Inn, Grays Inn) are clearly visible on this map, as is St James' Park, St Paul's Cathedral, Spitle fields - and of course, Shore ditch church!
Across the bottom of the map is a beautiful landscape of the city, looking north from the south side of the Thames - possibly over London Bridge.
You can buy just the map, or you can buy a framed version. The framed version has a nice, simple black frame that will make the map pop out nicely on your wall.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
