This exceedingly rare, old full colour map of the county of Renfrew in Scotland was created by master mapmaker Joan Blaeu from his workshop in Amsterdam and originally published in 1665 as part of his Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Sive Atlas Novus.
Originally handcoloured almost 400 years ago, this is one of the finest examples of this map that I've ever seen.
Some of the locations on this map include: Renfrew, Paisley, Inchinnan, Bishopton, Govan, Houston, Greenock, River Clyde, Gourock and Glasgow.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16in (30.5x41cm), 16x20in (40.5x51cm), 18x24in (45.5x61cm), 24x36in (61x91.5cm), 32x40in (81.5x102cm) and 40x50in (102x127cm), but it looks best at larger sizes.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 50in (127cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x24in (45.5x61cm) version of this map.

If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of Glasgow by John Tallis & Co in 1851.

This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone from the county of Renfrew in Scotland or someone interested in Scotland's ancient shires.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
