Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs. Learn more about how we source maps that you can't buy anywhere else.

This is an exceedingly rare, old full colour map of Ireland (also known by its Latin name Hibernia) created by master mapmaker Joan Blaeu from his workshop in Amsterdam and originally published in this Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Sive Atlas Novus in 1654.

Back in medieval times Latin was the language of maps, and Hibernia Regnum was the medieval Latin name for 'The Kingdom of Ireland'.

Originally handcoloured almost 400 years ago, this is one of the finest examples of this map that I've ever seen.

This map is most suited to printing at 16x20 inches (40x50cm), but I can print it at large sizes all the way up to 45 inches wide (115cm).

While there's some Latin on this map, most of the place names are in recognisable English. By 1664, many of Ireland's most well known towns and villages already exist. From Dublin to Cork, Limerick to Armagh, Belfast to County Mayo, they're all here. Though those place names were spelt a bit differently almost 400 years ago!

The shape of Ireland was a wee bit different back then, too...

This map would certainly make a nice gift for anyone in Ireland, or someone who has Ireland close to their heart.

You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

My museum-quality maps are made on thick and durable matte paper. Add a wonderful accent to your room and office with these vintage map prints that are sure to brighten any environment.
