Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
Originally hailed as "the most perfect map of London that has ever been issued" by the Royal Geographical Society when it was published in 1862, it's safe to say that Edward's Stanford's library map of London was a masterpiece of cartography.
The natural size for this map is 16x20 inches (40x50cm), but it looks great at sizes all the way up to 70 inches (178cm) wide. The labels are legible at 12x16 inches (30x40cm) but quite small. The 24x30 inch map has white edges that can easily be snipped off (or they may help you with framing!)
The map was originally published in 24 sheets. Altogether the map would've measured about 2 metres wide (78 inches). This here is sheet 10, which focuses on the central London borough of Westminster and parts of Lambeth.
This would make a wonderful gift for someone from this part of London or who has north London in their heart!
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or larger framed map. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
