Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
Created almost 450 years ago, this is the first ever printed map of the counties of Warwickshire and Leicestershire published by Christopher Saxton, the father of British cartography. My prints of this map are based on one of the finest examples of one of the best and rarest maps of Warwickshire and Leicester.
There's an incredible level of detail on this map, with most towns, cities and even some villages in the West and East Midlands clearly visible.
Nowadays, this ancient county has been split up into Warwickshire, Leicestershire, West Midlands and Birmingham.
This is a rare chance to see some big cities - Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, Warwick, Leicester, and others - all on the same county map.
This old map was hand coloured almost 450 years ago and, as you can see, is still in amazing condition for a map of this age.
Most of the villages and towns are labelled in Late Middle and Early Modern English, which is nice as you should be able to recognise most place names. Take a look and see if you can spot your home town!
This map will be completely sharp at all sizes. The original size of this map was close to 16x20 inches (40x50cm), but it looks fantastic at all sizes. I can print it at sizes up to 70 inches (180cm) wide - at that size it would make the perfect statement piece for a pub, bar, hotel, office or other hosting space.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or to frame one of the larger maps. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
