Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
This map of Texas was created and published in 1856 by J. H. Colton, one of the 19th century's top mapmaking firms.
This is an extremely high quality US state map with a huge amount of detail. By the mid-1800s, most of Texas's modern counties had already been incorporated and their borders defined - though you'll notice that many of the borders have changed significantly over the last 150 years.
This map shows railroads, roads, canals, cities, county towns, lakes, villages and even forts (the Civil War was only a few years away, after all!)
In the mid-1800s, the US was very sparsely populated indeed. There are a few big cities that you'll recognise - but many villages and towns haven't yet been founded.
Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and El Paso are all here - then some of the biggest cities in Texas, just as they are today.
Zoom into the listing images and see if you can spot your hometown... or at least where your hometown will be built!
This map would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for someone from Texas or who has the south central US in their hearts.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or if you'd like to frame one of the larger maps. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
