Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs. Learn more about how we source maps that you can't buy anywhere else.

This old, monochrome black and white map shows the ancient county of Surrey as it was in 1611. It was created by John Speed and engraved by Jodocus Hondius, and originally published in Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine".

I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 52x70 inches (130x180cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.

Many of the towns, villages and cities in Surrey are already visible in this map. Curiously, there are engravings of two palaces that no longer exist: Richmond Palace in the top left and Nonsuch Palace in the top right. Both were Tudor palaces back in the 1500s.

Brixton, Clapham, Dulwich and Camberwell are clearly visible in the top right - back then they were parts of Surrey, until they became part of the London borough of Lambeth in 1889.

Some of the towns, villages and places clearly visible in this old map include: Woking, Walton-on-Thames, Guildford, Kingston, Cobham, Godalming, Oxted, Croydon, Brentford, Mortlake, Richmond, Sutton, Morden, and many others. But of course, many of them are spelt in their Early Modern English forms.

Take a look at the detailed images and try to spot your hometown!

A number of coats of arms adorn the left and right side of the map for the Dukes and Earls of Surrey.

This would make a wonderful gift for someone from Surrey or who has Surrey in their heart.

You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

Our museum-quality maps are made on thick and durable matte paper. Add a wonderful accent to your room and office with these vintage map prints that are sure to brighten any environment.
