Old Map of Colonial Rhodesia, 1897 by Edward Stanford - Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, Harare

Handmade to order
There are not many maps of Rhodesia in its early form as an unrecognised state, operated under charter by the British South Africa Company. Cecil Rhodes had marched north in 1890 and claimed a huge chunk of land from the locals. The Company operated the country fairly smoothly until the 1920s - and then ... things degraded a lot over the next 30 or 40 years.
Almost all of the towns, cities and villages in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, and small parts of South Africa, are visible on this map. Do take a look at the listing images - and message me if you want to ask about whether a specific town is shown on the map.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x18 inches (30x45cm), 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 18x24 inches (45x60cm), but it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 120 inches (300cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 20x16 inch (50x40cm) version of this map.
This would make a wonderful birthday or Christmas gift for someone interested in Colonial Africa, or perhaps someone from Zimbabwe.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
