Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
Published in 1575 by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg, this is one of the first printed maps of Cambridge (or Cantebrigia as it was known in Latin). If Shakespeare visited Cambridge, this is what it would've looked like.
This map here is presented in the original black and white print - but I also have the same map that has been beautifully, originally handcoloured more than 430 years ago. See it here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/796199728/old-map-of-cambridge-cantebrigia-and-its
You can see that many of the oldest Cambridge colleges are already on this map, including Trinity, Kings, Queens, Clare, Peterhouse, Caius, St John's, Magdalene and Christ's.
Other lovely landmarks are visible, like the King's Ditch (an old boundary that no longer exists), the river Cam of course, and lots of churches.
This would make a wonderful birthday or Christmas gift for someone from Cambridge or who has Cambridge in their heart.
This map looks great at all sizes from 12x18 inches (30x40cm), to 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 24x36 inches (60x90cm). But it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 70 inches (180cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or to frame one of the larger maps. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
