Behold! A world map of... dogs! Originally published in 1936, this "Dogs of all nations" map shows 164 pure breeds of dogs, covering "all the known pure breeds of dogs on the face of the Earth".
The map shows where each of the 164 dog breeds originated - and as you'd expect, England, France and German are the origins for most of them! Dog breeds from the following countries are shown: Mexico, France, Spain, Italy, Austria/Hungary, Australia, Tibet, China, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Russia, Germany, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada and the United States.
Most dog breeds can be seen on this map, though some of the more recent mixes are obviously not on here!
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16 inches (31x41cm), 18x24 inches (45.5x61cm) and 24x36 inches (61x91.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 80 inches (200cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x24 inches (45.5x61cm) version of this map.
Take a look at the detailed images and try to spot your favourite breed! Feel free to message me if you want to confirm if a certain dog or country is shown on this map.
This would make a wonderful birthday, housewarming or Christmas gift for someone who loves dogs, or perhaps who is interested in the origins of the different dog species.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
