This rather unique map is a propaganda map, published in London in 1916, showing what the world could look like if Germany had its way and conquered a big chunk of the world.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x18 inches (31x46cm), 18x24 inches (45.5x61cm) and 24x36 inches (61x91.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 130 inches (330cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 36x24 inch (90x60cm) version of this map.
In the top right corner are 36 statements made by 'leaders of German thought' that, at least according to the creators of this propaganda, outline all the countries and territories that the Germans thought belonged to them.
The base map itself is a modern map by Edward Stanford and shows lots of countries that had different colonial names back in 1916, such as 'Belgian Congo' and 'Anglo-Egyptian Sudan'.
Established in 1984, The Unique Maps Co. sources rare original maps from around the world, and then lovingly restores them at a workshop in London. I guarantee that you cannot buy prints of these old maps, at this high quality, anywhere else.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone who loves German history, is a World War 1 buff.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
If you are not happy with your unique map for any reason, contact me for a no-quibble refund.
