Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
This is a designer face mask / neck gaiter / snood featuring an exceedingly rare full colour map of Wales in 1645, created by master mapmaker Jean Blaeu from his workshop in Amsterdam and originally published in this Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Sive Atlas Novus.
This face shield can be used as a headband, bandana, balaclava, wristband or neck warmer. This is not a medical grade face mask, but it could still help prevent the spread of coronavirus/covid-19 if you wear it when you go outside.
Back in medieval times Latin was the language of maps, and Wallia was the medieval Latin name for 'Wales'. The map's full name, 'WALLIA PRINCIPATUS Vulgo WALES' means 'The principality of Wallia, commonly known as Wales'.
Most of the place names are in recognisable English, however! By 1645, many of Wales' most well known towns and villages already exist. From Abergavenny to Hay, Caernarfon to Denbigh. Cardiff, Newport and Chepstow are all clearly visible along the south coast, as are all of the little villages on the west coast in Pembrokeshire.
You can also buy a beautiful printed version of this map, and we can frame it for you as well. See the listing here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/824062720/rare-old-map-of-wales-by-jean-blaeu-1645

- Four-way stretch fabric that stretches and recovers on the cross and lengthwise grains

Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
