Zoom into the listing images and spot some names that you'll recognise - and probably quite a few that you won't! Over the last 30 years many Valley companies have flourished - while hundreds more have fizzled and failed.
And of course, the whole raft of recently successful companies - like Google and Facebook - are nowhere to be seen on this map.
Some notable companies shown on this map, which are still operating in some capacity today, include: Apple, Fujitsu, NEC, Activision, HP, IBM and Xerox.
Various regions of Silicon Valley are labelled on the map, including Mountain View, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, Fremont and Sunnyvale - with arrows pointing to Palo Alto and Los Altos off the edge of the map. Stanford University is also shown on the left hand side of the map.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16 inches (30x40cm), 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 18x24 inches (45x60cm), but it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 100 inches (250cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 20x16 inch (50x40cm) version of this map.
I also have a similar map but from 3 years later, showing a few other companies (but a few are missing, too).
This would make a wonderful birthday or Christmas gift for someone who works in the Valley or perhaps someone interested in the history of technology.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
