Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
This is a very fine example of one of the first printed maps of Holland and Utrecht, published by Dutch mapmaker Abraham Ortelius in his 1595 edition of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum - the most important collection of world maps of the 16th century.
This map was originally handcoloured almost exactly 450 years ago and has been lovingly restored by The Unique Maps Co.
Back in 1595, our understanding of Holland and the Netherlands wasn't quite as accurate as it is today - but many parts of it are very accurate indeed.
This map spans all of North and South Holland, and also parts of other nearby provinces like Utrecht and North Brabant.
Almost all of the major towns and cities of this region of the Netherlands have already been founded by this point and are clearly visible on this map, including Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
Take a look at some of the detailed product images to see if you can spot your hometown! Or get in touch if you want to confirm if a certain location is visible on this map.
This map looks amazing at all sizes, from 12x18 inches (30x45cm) to 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 18x24 (45x60cm). It looks truly beautiful at larger sizes like 24x36 inches (60x90cm) and beyond. I can print this map at sizes up to 90 inches wide - 230cm.
This world map would make a perfect gift for someone from Holland or who loves to travel or explore Europe. It would look great as wall art on your own walls! It's a beautiful piece of wall art that would make a good housewarming gift.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or if you'd like to frame one of the larger map sizes.
We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
