This is one of the oldest complete maps of England and Ireland, published in 1605 by Abraham Ortelius. There's an incredible level of detail on this map, with most towns, cities and even some villages in England and Ireland labelled on this map.

The keen eyed amongst you may have noticed that we are selling the exact same map - but beautifully hand coloured over 400 years ago I think both maps are stunning - but you should choose one that best suits your tastes or space!

See the old hand-coloured map here: https://uniquemaps.co.uk/products/old-colour-map-of-england-ireland-in-1605-by-abraham-ortelius-framed-or-unframed-large-maps-available

Most of the villages and towns are in Modern English, but some of the counties are in their old Latin form - such as Southsexia (Sussex), Cantium (Kent) and Devonia (Devon).

Ireland was rather oddly shaped back in 1605, but all of the major towns and cities are already visible - Cork, Dublin, Belfast, etc.

Scotland is just about visible at the top of the map - you can see up to Edinburgh (or Edenburg!) but not much further.

And of course, Wales and all of its towns are clearly visible. You might be wondering what Brecknock is... well, it's the archaic form of Brecon!

A curious 'family tree' of monarchs adorns the right hand side, with Elizabeth I and James VI, the most recent monarchs, at the top of the tree.

This map will be completely sharp at all sizes. It's a lovely map at 18x24 inches, but it looks great at sizes all the way up to 100 inches wide (250cm, 8ft).

You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please contact me if you would like to frame one of the larger prints for a custom order.

If you are not happy with your unique map for any reason, contact me for a no-quibble refund.

I am very confident you will like your old map. I have been doing this since 1984 and I'm a 5-star Etsy seller with 1000s of sales and reviews.

This is the cheapest place to buy my maps online.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.

Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.

All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.

I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.

If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.

If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.

Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!

My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.

I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.

My maps are printed on acid-free archival matte (not glossy) paper that feels very high quality and almost like card. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.

I print with Epson ultrachrome giclée UV fade resistant pigment inks - some of the best inks you can find.

Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
