Originally hailed as "the most perfect map of London that has ever been issued" by the Royal Geographical Society when it was published in 1862, it's safe to say that Edward's Stanford's library map of London was a masterpiece of cartography.
The natural size for this map is 16x20 inches (40x50cm), but it looks great at sizes all the way up to 70 inches (178cm) wide. The labels are legible at 12x16 inches (30x40cm) but quite small. The unframed 24x30 inch map has white edges that can easily be snipped off (or they may help you with framing!) All other sizes, and all framed maps, look just like the listing images.
The model in the listing images is holding the 20x16 inch (50x40cm) version of this map.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
The map was originally published in 24 sheets. Altogether the map would've measured about 2 metres wide (78 inches). This here is sheet 8, which focuses on the eastern London boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets.
On this map you can clearly see: Victoria Park, Stratford, Hackney Wick, Hackney Common, Homerton, Old Ford, Bow, Tower Hamlets Cemetery, West Ham, Wanstead, and all sorts of cool old things - like a small pox hospital in Homerton and the Hackney Union Workhouse.
This would make a wonderful gift for someone from this part of London or who has east London in their heart!
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or larger framed map. We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
