Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and I can frame them. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
This old map of Dublin, created by master surveyor and cartographer John Rocque in 1756, shows the entirety of Dublin and its suburbs. Indeed, the original name of this map was: An Exact Survey of the City and Suburbs of Dublin 1756, In Which is Express’d the Ground Plot of all Publick Buildings Dwelling Houses, Ware Houses, Stables, Court Yards, &c,"
This is the finest, most detailed map of Dublin in the 1700s. The level of detail is fantastic - and at larger sizes you'll be able to read every street and place name. Enjoy Dublin castle, the artillery ground, royal hospital, Usher's Island - and of course Smith Field, which no longer exists and has been replaced by the area of Smithfield! St Stephen's Green is here too.
And of course, Trinity College, founded some 150 years previously, is already quite big and developed on this map. Next door to Trinity there's Parliament House - and of course, running through the middle of the map is River Liffey.
This lovely map would surely go down well as a gift for someone from (or with their heart in) Dublin or Ireland.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall.
All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.
I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.
If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.
If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.
Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!
My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.
I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.
My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.
Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
