Handmade to order
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or if you'd like a larger framed map. We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16 inches (30x40cm), 16x20 inches (40x50cm), 18x24 inches (45x60cm) and 24x36 (60x90cm) but it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 70 inches (180cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
This map would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for someone from Brighton, or who has the south coast in their heart.
Like a lot of the UK's oldest cities, Brighton's street names and landmarks haven't changed much in the last 150 years - so it's nice to find your favourite street and imagine what it might've looked like all those years ago.
Many of Brighton's main roads are clearly visible here: Marine Parade and Kings Road still run along the coast. Grand Junction Road is in the middle, with East St and Grand Parade joining from the north. The Old Steine is here, too.
The Lanes are here of course - but back then they were just ... downtown Brighton! North Lane and Gloucester Lane are both clearly visible in this old map, along with many small streets that no longer exist.
In the bottom right corner you can see Kemptown, and in the top left Preston.
Around the edges of the map are detailed engravings of prominent buildings and landmarks in Brighton, including the Chain Pier, Old Steine and Pavilion, and the Railway Station.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
