This is a giant map of Westminster, City of London and up to 10 miles around between 1741 and 1745 by John Rocque.
This map comes in 4 pieces or panels. You hang them as a grid of four - and it looks superb! The minimum size is 150cm (60 inches) wide by 100cm (40in) tall so that you can read all of the labels and place names.
This is the finest map of London from the 18th century and would not be surpassed for more than 100 years. There's also not really any other maps of this quality from this era. It's a very rare chance to see the suburbs of London when they were all mostly towns, villages and ... empty fields.
Some of the clearly visible towns, villages and London suburbs in this map are: Wimbledon, Hampstead, Highgate, Vauxhall, Richmond, Teddington, Petersham, Twickenham, Hampton Court Palace, Surbiton, Putney, Wandsworth, Clapham, Brixton, Camberwell, Peckham, Kennington, New Cross, Deptford, Greenwich, Norwood, Dulwich, Woolwich, Rotherhithe, Southwark, Blackwall, Mile End, Bethnal Green, Stepney, Hoxton, Islington, Hackney, Dalston, Kingsland, Homerton, Clapton, Tottenham, Walthamstow, Stratford, Westham, Eastham, Acton, Hounslow... and many more!
I recommend buying this 4-panel map (quadriptych?) framed so that I can guarantee it looks perfect and can go straight onto your wall. But I can provide the map unframed if you wish to frame it yourself. I will work with you to make sure each piece of the map has the right margins to allow for perfect framing.
My normal frame is a simple, black woodgrain frame that makes the map pop out on the wall and works with most types of interior decor. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame - I have hundreds to choose from.
I can print and frame this quadriptych at sizes up to 4 meters (160in) wide. Get in touch if you're looking for a large quadriptych.
I have other large maps of London that work well in triptych form. See them here: https://uniquemaps.co.uk/products/old-london-map-triptych-framed-antique-wall-art-1830-or-1898

This map would make a great birthday, housewarming or Christmas gift for someone from London or who has an interest in the history of England and London.
This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.
