This wonderful old map of the Mass Migrations of Mankind was originally published in 1944. It was created by Edwin Sundberg.
A colourful and informative map regarding the origin and travel of humankind across the Earth.
This map shows the "Out of Asia" origin of humans, a scientific theory that was popular when this map was originally published. As the 20th century continued, the science started to shift towards the "Out of Africa" theory.
In any case, this map shows the hypothesised migration routes that were taken by mankind as they populated various parts of the planet, starting with an explosion of humans out of Asia, all the way up to Europeans colonising North and South America. The Slave Trade is also shown quite dramatically on this map.
Many of today's countries and cultures can be explained by these migrations, such as the Saxons coming over to Britain in the 5th and 6th centuries, or the massive Chinese migrations in the 19th century.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16in (30.5x41cm), 18x24in (45.5x61cm), 16x20in (40.5x51cm), 24x36in (61x91.5cm), 30x40in (76x101.5cm), 37x50in (94x127cm), 45x60in (114x152.5cm) and 52x70in (132x178cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 80in (203cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.

If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of Political & Religious World Map by W.C. Woodbridge in 1828.
The locations on this map include: all continents (excluding Antarctica), the oceans and lots of Pacific islands.
Please contact me to check if a certain location, landmark or feature is shown on this map.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in the Mass Migrations of Mankind or historic (and mostly disproven) theories of migration and evolution.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
