A gorgeous map of the world in Double Hemispheres, originally published in 1804 by probably the most sought after mapmaker of the mid-19th century, John Arrowsmith.
This handcoloured map show's the world as if it were split in half.
There are many missing countries from this map and some have wildly different names, including countries in South America, which are still under Spanish colonial rule. and Australia is still designated as New Holland!
This map looks great at all sizes: 18x11in (45x27cm), 24x13 inches (60x33cm), 36x20 inches (90x50cm), 40x22 inches (100x55cm), 50x27 inches (125x70cm), 60x32 inches (152.5x81.5cm) and 70x38 inches (178x96.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 80in (203cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
This map is incredibly wide, which would make it a perfect statement piece above a mantelpiece, sofa or desk.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
Please note the unframed 18x11in (45x27cm), 24x13 inches (60x33cm) and 36x20 inches (90x50cm) map has white edges around the map. These edges can help you with framing, or if you don’t need them they are very easy to snip off with scissors. All other maps, including the framed maps, look exactly like the listing images.
If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of an azimuthal projection Flat Earth World Map by Alexander Gleason in 1892.
Some of the locations on this map include: Great Britain, France, Spain, Poland, Turkey, Russia, China, Philippines, Borneo, Persia, Australia, Arabia, Iceland, Greenland, Egypt, Cuba, Peru, Brazil and Chile.

This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone from the world in Double Hemispheres or someone interested in historical maps of the world.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
