The map was created by Charles Parson, a British artist who lived in New York for a time.
There's an intense level of detail in this map. Please zoom into the images and lose yourself for a while - you might be surprised at what you can find!
The giant Battery and Battery Park can be clearly seen in the foreground, and a few other notable landmarks can be seen if you look closely. Though of course, many of NYC's well known skyscrapers had not yet been built. You'll probably spot a few recognisable church steeples though!
Across the bottom of the map there are a few landmarks labelled - if you trace your finger upwards from the label, you'll find the landmark. Handy.
This map looks great at all sizes from 12x16 inches (30x40cm), to 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 24x36 inches (60x90cm). But it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 130 inches (340cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 24x18 inch (60x45cm) version of this map.
I also have a similar birds eye map of New York, but from 1982, if you want something a lot more modern with all of the skyscrapers on it.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas or housewarming gift for someone from New York or who has Manhattan in their heart.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes the map pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. I use super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in my frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
