Almost none of Adelaide had been built, but this is actually a cadastral map - a landowner's map. The map covers a pretty large span, from Port Adelaide in the north down to Brighton in the south. Most of the parcels of land are around 80 acres, while the larger ones are 134 acres. The owners of each lot of land is written on the map.
If you look at a modern day map of Adelaide, you can see that the parcels of land and the roads between them are still mostly the same.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16 inches (31x41cm), 18x24 inches (45.5x61cm) and 24x36 inches (61x91.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 110 inches (280cm) tall. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 20x16 inch (51x40.5cm) version of this map.
Please note the unframed 24x24 inch map has white edges around the map. These edges can help you with framing, or if you don’t need them they are very easy to snip off with scissors. All other maps, including the framed maps, look exactly like the listing images.
Take a look at the detailed images and try to spot where your house/street would be in modern day Adelaide!
This would make a wonderful birthday, housewarming or Christmas gift for someone from Adelaide or who has South Australia in their heart.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
