This wonderful old map of Surrey was originally published in 1801. It was created by John Cary.
Located in South East England, to the southwest of Greater London, Surrey is one of the historical counties of Greater London. It is known for its historic sites and being home to the largest vineyard in England, found in Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking.
As you can see, when this map was published, Surrey was still very much part of the counties in London, with the Thames to the north of the map, and it wasn't until relatively recently, around 1965, that the London Boroughs took up more of Surrey.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x12in (31x31cm), 16x16in (41x41cm), 18x18in (46x46cm), 24x24 inches (61x61cm), 36x36 inches (92x92cm), 45x45 inches (114.5x114.5cm), 50x50 inches (127x127cm) and 60x60 inches (152.5x152.5cm), but
it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 60in (152cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for
larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x18in (46x46cm) version of this map.

The labels on this map are very small at 12x12in (31x31cm). The map is still very attractive, but you may struggle to read the smallest letters. Please buy a larger map if it's important to be able to read the map easily.
If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of Surrey by Herman Moll in 1724.
The locations on this map include: Guildford, Haslemere, Streatham, Reigate, Dorking, Waldingham, Westerham, Leatherhead, Tooting, Chiddingfold and Blackheath.
Please contact me to check if a certain location, landmark or feature is shown on this map.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in Surrey or someone from the county of Surrey.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.
