This is an attractive, full colour old map of the world in 1802 by John Cary. This is one of the earliest, accurate atlas maps of the entire world - and in a unique twist, the journeys of recent explorers from the 1700s are shown on the map.

For example, the map shows Captain Cook's exploration of Australia, New Zealand and Europe's first contact with Hawaii. Other eminent explorers at the time and shown on this map include Vancouver, Perouse, and Gores.

The 'natural' size for this map is 16x20 inches (40x50cm), but I can print it and frame it at sizes up to 40x50 inches (100x125cm). It looks truly beautiful at that larger size, as you can imagine.

Notably, this map is missing both the Antarctic and Arctic. Cook circumnavigated Antarctica through the Southern Ocean, but he never sighted land back in 1773. The first sightings of the new continent wouldn't be until 1820.

This map, which uses the Mercator projection which was popular at the time, is in great condition and has been lovingly restored by me.

This world map would make a perfect gift for someone who loves to travel or explore, or it would look great as wall art on your own walls!

You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

All of my maps are well packaged and sent in a rugged tube if unframed, or surrounded by foam if framed.

I try to send out all maps within 1 or 2 days of receiving your order, though some products (like face masks or mugs) can take longer to make.

If you select the free worldwide shipping option, you can usually expect to receive your map around 10 days after you order. It may be faster or slower, depending on the impact of coronavirus in your country.

If you select Express Delivery at checkout your order will be sent by courier (Fedex, DHL, UPS, Parcelforce) and will usually arrive in 2-3 days.

Customers in the US, Australia and Canada: Your map will be sent from a printer or framer in your country, which means you'll get your map sooner, you won't pay import duties, and we'll put less CO2 into the atmosphere. I have worked with some great printers and framers around the world for years - so don't worry, your map will still look amazing!

My maps are extremely high quality reproductions of original maps.

I source original, extremely rare maps from libraries, auction houses and private collections around the world, restore them at my London workshop, and then use specialist giclée inks and printers to create beautiful maps that look even better than the original.

My maps are printed on thick matte (not glossy) paper that feels high quality. In technical terms the paper weight/thickness is 10mil/190gsm. It's perfect for framing.

Please contact me if you're looking for a print on canvas or cotton rag.
