Originally hailed as "the most perfect map of London that has ever been issued" by the Royal Geographical Society when it was published in 1862, it's safe to say that Edward's Stanford's library map of London was a masterpiece of cartography.
The natural size for this map is 16x20 inches (40x50cm), but it looks great at sizes all the way up to 70 inches (178cm) wide. The labels are legible at 12x16 inches (30x40cm) but quite small. The unframed 24x30 inch map has white edges that can easily be snipped off (or they may help you with framing!) All other sizes, and all framed maps, look just like the listing images.
The model in the listing images is holding the 20x16 inch (50x40cm) version of this map.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service. The map was originally published in 24 sheets. Altogether the map would've measured about 2 metres wide (78 inches). This here is sheet 19, a beautiful map that shows one of my favourite towns in south London: Peckham Rye, East Dulwich, Dulwich, West Dulwich, Forest Hill AND Herne Hill! (I know, amazing) in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark.
What is really apparent in this map is just how much of the south London suburbs used to be parks and fields. While each of the towns is starting to look built up, there are still acres of field, park, common and marsh between them. It's hard to imagine seeing fields out of your car or train window when going from Brixton to Dulwich...
On this map you can clearly see: A bit of Brixton in the top left, Herne Hill (and some very fancy houses that used to be there), the Dulwiches, Knight's Hill, Camberwell Cemetery, Peckham Rye Common, Coldharbour Lane, Brockwell Park (and Brockwell Hall), and all sorts of cool old things - like the Dulwich College, which is still exactly where it is today.
This would make a wonderful birthday or Christmas gift for someone from this part of London or who has south London in their heart!
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or larger framed map. We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
