Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (2m+) and can be framed. Contact me to discuss your specific needs. Learn more about The Unique Maps Co.

This old, full colour and exceedingly rare map shows the ancient county of Cornwall as it was in 1611. It was created by John Speed and engraved by Jodocus Hondius, and originally published in Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine".

The natural size for this map is 18x24 inches (45x60cm) but it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 37x50 inches (100x125cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.

Many of the towns, villages and cities in Cornwall are already visible in this map. Curiously, an inset engraving in the top left of Launceston suggests that this town was the capital of Cornwall back then. Cornwall itself has a different shape, too - we now know that the southwest peninsula is a lot further south.

Some of the towns, villages and places clearly visible in this old map include: Penzance, Lizard Point, St Ives, Plymouth, Padstow, St Michael's Mount and even Lands End! But of course, many of them are spelt in their Early Modern English forms.

Take a look at the detailed images and try to spot your hometown!

The coat of arms of the Monarch of the United Kingdom appears in the top centre, along with the Monarch's motto Dieu et mon droit - God and my right.

This would make a wonderful gift for someone from Cornwall or who has Cornwall in their heart.

You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear perspex in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.

Our museum-quality maps are made on thick and durable matte paper. Add a wonderful accent to your room and office with these vintage map prints that are sure to brighten any environment.
